words of wisdom from roald dahl.

roald dahl was one of my favorite authors as a kids, and continues to be a favorite to this day. he always had such a wonderful imagination, a distinct and creative voice, and an uncanny ability to convey the magic of children.

his short stories for adults are really something special... they are one part whimsical, one part grotesque, and always wickedly funny. those of you who haven't yet discovered them simply must give them a read. i highly recommend kiss kiss... "parson's pleasure" is especially delicious.

hope you have a magical monday!

downtown chic.

downtown chic is the new book from husband-wife interior design team sixx design. cortney and robert novogratz started their business when they realized they had a knack for design after completely renovating their townhome in chelsea... now they make their living by turning run-down buildings into gorgeous and glamorous living spaces. they chose to name their business sixx design as a tribute to their six children... since then, their clan has grown to seven!

i was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of the book, and let me tell you... it is gorgeous. it's chock full of beautiful and artistic photographs of cortney and robert's projects, homes, and family. it also features quotes from famous artists, designers, and writers to inspire you along the way.

downtown chic also has some really great advice for "designing your dream home, from wreck to ravishing." each chapter gives tips on how to achieve that effortlessly stylish look in your home, whether the look you are after is urban-inspired, country cool, or flea market chic.

cortney, robert, and their family are also going to be starring in a new show on bravo, called design sixx. for more information, visit the sixx design website, or click here to purchase downtown chic on amazon.

xoxo,
lesley
