vacation hangover (and some pics!)

 {view from the top of notre-dame, paris}

so, i'm back from europe... and what an amazing trip it was (if a bit too short)!

i fell in love with amsterdam's winding canals and technicolor flower fields, and discovered tons of new favorite places in my old favorite city (paris!)

the only problem?  i've been back home for two weeks, and i still can't seem to get myself back to reality.  it's been far too long for me to blame my inactivity on jetlag, so i have another name for it.  i call it a vacation hangover.

just what exactly is a vacation hangover?  for me, it's a sense of denial that my vacation is, in fact, over and it's time to resume my normal, day-to-day routine.

i'm trying to be productive (i swear!), but all i can seem to do is daydream about strolling around the canal belt in amsterdam or sipping wine at a sidewalk cafe in paris, watching the world go by.

it goes deeper than you think: i spent a few hours one day looking at paris apartment rental websites, imagining myself catching a last-minute flight and spending a few months holed up in a studio in the marais.  another morning i went on amsterdam’s craigslist and searched for temporary job openings.

(note to self: you can't afford the flight to paris, let alone a few months’ rent... and your complete lack of dutch language skills might present a tiny barrier to getting a job in the netherlands)

so... anybody have any tips on how i can get over my vacation hangover and start getting stuff done?  i clearly need help, so feel free to leave me a reality check in the comments :)

p.s. i hope you like my photos... just thought i'd give you a taste of what i've been daydreaming about!
