1970s platforms... yes or no?

i'm definitely a high heel girl, and i've always been pretty adventurous with my shoe styles... but these sky-high platforms are pushing the limits, even for me.

what do you think? insane platforms... would you or wouldn't you?

p.s. the sparkly pair totally reminds me of 70s era jenny from forrest gump!

dying to try . . . socks with sandals (!)

{burberry via the yay or nay}

once thought of as a hardcore fashion no-no, socks with sandals are starting to appear on stylish bloggers and street-chic girls everywhere! over the past few seasons, i've fallen hard for the sweet, girly-girl look of ankle socks paired with strappy wedges or platforms.

what's your take... can a normal girl wear this combo, or do you have to be a leggy, super tall model-type to pull it off? should i try it out myself or leave it to the pros?

my latest obsession . . . bensimon sneakers

i'm pretty sure i need a pair of bensimon sneakers in every color and style.

here is why:

1. they are french. enough said.
2. they have been worn by fashion icons like jane birkin and brigitte bardot.
3. they literally go with everything, from lived-in jeans and a t-shirt to a sweet summer dress.

convinced? i certainly am :)

every girl needs a great pair of ballet flats in their closet... the ridiculous selection of fresh color combos, fun patterns, and metallic accents at french sole makes it impossible to choose just one!

the shoe of my dreams.

these shoes (which i've been stalking for months) have been reduced from $1,155 to $694. still about 10 times more than i usually spend on shoes, but creeping slowly towards my price range. i know they'll never actually get there, but a girl can still dream!

i also just discovered the gold studded, angel wing, and shearling versions of my beloved 'faithful' bootie... and the obsession continues!

best shoes for summer

one of my favorite things about summer? getting to buy cute new shoes. actually, that's one of my favorite things about every season, but i digress :)

there's tons of adorable, colorful, fun footwear to be had this summer... here are some of my faves.

not only do these ballet flats by corso como look super comfy, but they also come in a rainbow of juicy summer colors! and get this... the soles are foldable, and each pair comes with a matching storage bag you can throw in your carry-on. the perfect companion for all your summer vacation adventures! corso como "festive" flat, $60. bonus - use the code REALSIMPLE and get 20% off until the end of june!

i've always been a fan of TOMS and their one-for-one philosophy, but these new wedges are by far the cutest shoes they've ever offered. i'm loving the nautical-inspired striped canvas and pastel sherbet colors. you really can't go wrong with these... a pair of chic summer espadrilles will never go out of style, and neither will helping out people in need. TOMS wedges, $69.

these "switch flops" by lindsay phillips are pure genius! start with a basic pair of flops like the beige ones above, then mix and match adorable embellishments to create endless summer looks. the styles shown above are just a few of literally hundreds of possible combinations! the basic flip flops are $24 each, and changeable embellishments run $12 a pair. click here to see more options!

remember the amazing studded pumps from louise goldin's spring 2010 collection? they're now available in three colors from topshop! they're out of my price range at $310, but if you can afford to shell out for some amazing footwear, don't wait... i'm sure these beauties won't last long!

shoes as art

i've been perusing spring 2010 runway show photos for a couple weeks now, and i've been really inspired by everything.  it seems like this season designers have been paying a little extra attention to what i consider one of the most important elements of any outfit... the shoes!  the latest trend is definitely form over function... shoes as art.

here are some of my favorites... i probably won't be wearing any of these any time soon, but they sure are lovely to look at!

colorblocking, mismatched patterns, and architectural platforms at versace

fierce spiked stilettos with matching socks at

...and the most insane/amazing/ridiculous shoes ever at
i watched the live stream of this show and i only saw one girl stumble the whole time... impressive!
